eMan will develop apps for the European Union

Five months of hard work and very tough competition from companies across Europe. That is the tender of the Publications Office of the European Union in a nutshell. And that makes us very proud to be the only winning Czech company.

The total value of the order is 3.5 mil EUR (around 90 mil CZK) making it quite a large task. The actual contract with the EU is for the development of mobile applications and a term of four years has been set.

As one of the four successful companies, eMan will be developing and maintaining mobile applications for all EU offices. The purpose of these apps is to make information of the individual EU offices available to citizens.

As part of the tender, we had to design a solution which will be able to work with an enormous amount of data because the Publications Office of the European Union has a database containing millions of pages of text, and every day more are added.

The work itself will then be very diverse as we will be fulfilling specific requirements of the individual offices. These will be requesting apps they need through the Publications Office of the European Union. It will be a challenge and we are looking forward to it.

Another obstacle to overcome is the fact that the apps will be intended for a wide group of the general public, from high school students to seniors. And, at the same time, we have to consider people with vision impairment. Apps will be intended for citizens of the whole Union, so localizing them into up to 24 languages will not be unusual.
